By default, documents are opened in the WYSIWYG mode, which is very close to a conventional word processor.

The WYSIWYG mode shows a document by default without markup tags. It is possible to switch to the
Markup mode where markup tags are displayed: choose or click the
Show Markup button 
on the
Status bar.
